26 March 2014

this week

Has been exceptionally quiet. A combination of rainy days, dwindling autumn light, and low energy. Rallying for a fun weekend, though.

Wandered around one of the community gardens on my way back from town today, and got excited about pomegranates...

a quince tree heavy with fruit

two lovely ginkgo trees

delicate, feathery looking mushrooms

and ambitious little branches sprouting on this giant pine

Tom and I were confined indoors most of our time this week due to the rain, but still had lots of fun. Took a little break during some light sprinkles to sit on our favorite bench

and killed lots of time playing with trains

Tom even put an engine in my fleece pocket, you know, for safe-keeping

Tom and I found this sweet heart-shaped rock in our play outside

And sat very still like this for a solid thirty minutes, watching the dog dig a big hole

Sarah and I snuck away for a quick, refreshing drink one afternoon. Much needed and much appreciated!

little things

These gorgeous pink lilies have been popping up all over town, including in our yard. Cut some yesterday and now we have this huge arrangement gracing our dining table

And they smell just as great as they look. Just the way this shade of pink would smell if you could translate that cross-senses

In all my cutting through the Catholic church yard, I never noticed this pensive looking statue. But now that he's appeared to me, I love him

All the recent violent winds have felled some large trees and branches on one of the bushwalks around town. Love the "big" weather, but not hopping over these limbs on the edge of the steep ravine this path follows!

The spooky name of the walk, a local legend

Enough already, just let me walk in peace!

Tom loves to play like he's calling people on the phone, so I gave him my old iPhone to play with our last few days together. He loved it! And then started taking some pictures, which included a few adorable selfies

I took full advantage of the situation and stuck my arm out to get a few of us together. Love this boy!

He also looked very suave trying on my sunglasses (while thoughtfully and deliberately emptying everything from my bag)

Meet Tom, the little man I look after about two days a week. He's sweet, funny, clever, and oh so polite. And though he's not talking yet, he's a wonderful communicator. Really love this guy (and his habit of reading!). Let's look at some silly pictures from our time together this week!

SO happy to have a drink from a proper cup instead of a bottle!

Busy peeling stickers off a box

But where will we put them now?

And the most adorable routine with the blueberries we had as a snack. Carefully select one that looks extra delicious, pop it in your mouth to enjoy, close the container, shake it up, reopen, and start all over! Too funny.
