guerrilla gardening

There are a few community gardens here in Daylesford. One is right in the center of town, nestled between the library and a cafe, and the other is on a road out of town, in an actual park that was neglected and has now been taken over by these rogue gardeners. Love visiting them and seeing what's growing, what work has been done, and just enjoying the overall atmosphere of love and appreciation. For homegrown food, for nature, and for this wonderful community.

Captivating artwork on the walls

And a handy notice board to keep everyone in the loop

Wonderful cabbage

Sweet peas

Tons of mint

Highly organized composting system. Love!

Heaps of strawberries

Garlic chives

Salad greens

Lovely pansies. Thinking about candying some for decorations...

The entrance to the second garden

Berrylicious

Artichokes and new fruit trees

Gorgeous globe artichokes

Rainbow chard

Magical looking flowers

And to give some scale to those cabbages...

  1. Those "magical looking flowers" are Columbines! How do I know that? They are the state flower of Colorado! Part of my 5th grade project when I lived in Colorado, way back when. Wish we had some community gardens close to us, I'd love to go play in the dirt. I especially like the composting system. I want one!
